I Am Black Business has been under development for over a year. Every day we are getting closer to our official release of which we are super excited. Our team came together to develop and release tools that would push the economic and political status of our community forward. Personally, that goal is still paramount; but for me, I’m building something I would use.
It seems like there is an app for everything. For instance, I just leased a car and wanted an easy way to track my miles to ensure I get my money’s worth out of the lease without going over the mileage. A quick search in the App Store and I found an app that suited my needs. In the case of finding black owned businesses, there is no one mobile app or website that really gets the job done. There are well established sites such as Yelp which can quickly help you find a business but lack the capability to target black owned businesses (or even minority or women owned). We are looking to fill that void.
We are gracious to have an opportunity to impact our community in a great way via technology. At this time, we are still in beta for the website version of the directory and have started initial plans for native apps. Feel free to use the beta version of the website and provide any feedback to our team. We are building tools that I would use but need you to use them as well.
